June 14, 2017 — WASHINGTON, D.C. — WorldatWork, a human resources association and leading compensation authority, is proud to announce the North Texas Compensation Association (NTCA) has received the 2016 Local Association of the Year award. Each year, the award is given to a local association that has made an outstanding contribution to the HR profession and been a valuable partner with WorldatWork throughout the year.

NTCA was chosen as a result of excellence in the following categories:

  • Advancement of the HR profession
  • Professional development of members
  • Strong member engagement
  • Community involvement
  • Operation of a professional association.

"Our local associations are a vital part of the WorldatWork network and bring to life our goals of learning, growing, and connecting. We are always impressed with the work that they do for their local HR professionals.  This award is our chance to identify one association that has truly exceeded in all of our judging categories," said WorldatWork President and CEO Scott Cawood, Ed.D. "NTCA set goals for 2016 that would increase its education, outreach and mentorship for HR professionals. They enthusiastically met those goals and we salute the association's hard work!"

In 2016, NTCA successfully implemented initiatives that has provided increased education and opportunities for the local HR communities. It sought to fulfill its mission of being a high quality, cost-effective source for professional development while encouraging networking and information exchange between its members. It also enhanced and promoted the total rewards profession through the participation of members in seminars, workshops and symposiums. All of these goals were met in 2016, including a successful mentorship program, increased community involvement and financial stability.

"We changed our focus to the value you receive with your membership," said Tina Opp, CCP, GRP, CSCP, CEBS, PHR, president of NTCA. "We also did things like reach out to people who had dropped their memberships. We're hoping for an even bigger increase in membership this next year."
