Senior Instructional Designer

WorldatWork is looking for a Senior Instructional Designer Lead in our Scottsdale, Arizona office. WorldatWork is a nonprofit human resources association and compensation authority for professionals and organizations focused on compensation, benefits and total rewards. It's our mission to empower professionals to become masters in their fields.

You have:

  • Requires Master of Education degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 6 or more years instructional design training development experience with multiple platforms and delivery modes
  • Clear understanding of instructional design requirements for business training applications
  • Experience and knowledge of foundations of instructional design, adult learning theory, examination item-writing, certification program requirements, adult teaching/instruction, and project management
  • Evidence of a strong ability to coach, mentor and build individual capabilities.
  • Experience of setting and implementing standards in instructional design.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment, with a high customer service orientation and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Good judgment, leadership, project management, team skills, written and verbal communication, negotiation, analytical/statistical skills, problem solving ability, systems thinking, platform/instructional skills, innovation/visionary skills, handling multiple concurrent tasks and directives
  • Knowledge of and practice with a variety of instructional approaches (e.g., web-based, instructor-led, virtual instructor-led training)
  • Understanding of design fundamentals and usability concepts
  • Experience with Articulate Storyline and Studio, Camtasia, Adobe Connect, graphical design applications, and other relevant software. Proficiency with MS office applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with and managing SME relationships, such as vetting skills and availability for projects that have varying needs, managing expectations and deadlines, and follow through to project completion
  • Creativity and a passion for learning

Primary Responsibilities

  • Builds strategic roadmap for larger scale projects and forecasting on design capabilities
  • Applies a system approach to curriculum design, re-design and development
  • Mentor, train, coach and develop team members on high quality, consistent delivery of learning content
  • Participates in the planning, development, and evaluation of learning programs, supporting ongoing learning and professional development of our learner audiences
  • Creates or converts existing instructor-led curriculum into an online learning format
  • Define learning objectives
  • Assume a lead role with multiple designers working on common design-related goal/projects
  • Accept responsibilities as needed in defining process and standards
  • Builds collaborative partnerships with peers, others and with business partners
