Wrap Up
The future of work-life effectiveness was imagined and brought to life in everything from new award recipients to record-breaking attendance and provocative insights from numerous speakers at this year’s Work-Life Conference
in Phoenix, Feb. 21-23, 2007.
More than 400 professionals from all over the world gathered to network with peers, attend educational workshops, collect information at the Poster Session,
share best practices and search for products and
services they need to attract, motivate and retain their workforce as they bring the work-life charter to the next
level in their organization.
Keynote speaker Ted Childs, Jr. motivated listeners with
his experience implementing work-life practices into
IBM’s global workforce. Five work-life professionals were recognized as Work-Life Rising Stars for their promising efforts in their workplaces. For three outstanding work-life programs that benefit employees and the bottom line for
the organization, the Work-Life Innovative Excellence
Award went to Massachusetts General Hospital, Capital Metro Transportation Authority and the United State Patent and Trademark Office. Finally, to help all attendees share the rich information and insights absorbed at conference, the closing general session included perspectives from the new Conference Insights Teams, each imparting lessons for everyone to take back to their offices.
An evening networking party got all attendees in the spirit of the 1960s and 1970s with costumes and a chance to groove with new friends. Guests savored a family-style dinner, and because the weather was so nice in Phoenix, people wandered outside to toast marshmallows around a fire pit and continue networking. Inside, the dance floor was packed as attendees showed off their moves to the YMCA and other disco hits.
Thank you to those who attended this conference. Your insightful participation will be appreciated as we all continue to strive toward work-life effectiveness.
