Marilyn Guthrie, Manager of Benefits, Wellness & Recognition Programs, REI, Inc.

In her current role, which she has held since late August 2008, Marilyn is responsible for the oversight and management of all traditional and non-traditional benefits, recognition, leave and absence management, and work/life programs at REI. Prior to joining REI, Marilyn was manager of health promotion at WaMu (now part of JP Morgan Chase) where she helped design and drive enterprise-wide strategic health management initiatives for the organization. While at WaMu, she was responsible for the design and implementation of an integrated and comprehensive Health Advocate program for which the company received national recognition by the National Business Group on Health.

Over the span of her professional career, Marilyn has held a variety of senior management positions in diverse venues—including EAP, work/life, and health care organizations—where she has honed her expertise and passion related to consumer and employee engagement strategies. Her role at REI allows her to take advantage of the unique culture (and employee discount) to practice work/life balance and enjoy her recreational pursuits of biking, running, hiking, and X-C skiing, with her husband Mark and two adult children, Melissa and Ben!
