Survey
- What Matters Now?
Companies have stepped up efforts
to increase security for both their businesses and employees in the wake
of the Sept. 11 attacks. Many have also found the need to evaluate or
enhance their military leave policies in response to the call-up of employees
in the military.
WorldatWork recently completed a two-part survey titled What Matters Now?
on what policies and business plans were and will be most affected by
the change in the world. More than 300 HR executives responded to questions
regarding benefits and work/life programs, and 285 answered questions
regarding compensation and military leave issues. Some of the highlights
are as follows:
- 50 percent responding have
considered or implemented increased physical security measures
- 76% of these participants
are considering or implemented new or enhanced security for building(s)
- Most companies are fully
prepared for employees who are called to active duty
- 54% have a military leave
in place to cover a reservists leave for more than six months, and 45%
of the companies said their policies will cover leave longer than one
year.
- 35% of the companies responding
to the benefits survey said they have expanded employee-counseling services
in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks.
