E-Newsletter Mission
The mission of this publication is to provide WorldatWork audiences with practical sales compensation information in a high-quality electronic format that:
- Serves as an informative resource with respect to trends and contemporary issues, for the purpose of advancing sales compensation management, knowledge and practice
- Provides compensation professionals with a resource to assist them in contributing to the development of programs and practices that lead to superior organizational performance
- Enhances the public image and reputation of WorldatWork within the sales compensation community
- Reaches new readers who may not know about WorldatWork and who are interested in sales compensation materials
- Keeps readers informed about current association services and the advantages of affiliation with WorldatWork.
Article Level, Content and Focus
Level
Content should target all levels of compensation and sales compensation professionals. The publication’s primary audience includes emerging, mid-career and senior professionals who are striving to enhance their knowledge base and understanding of issues facing the field.
Content and Focus
Articles published in Sales Compensation Focus may accomplish some or all of the following:
- Provide new, previously unpublished ideas, concepts, solutions or perspectives
- Deal with current issues and trends in sales compensation, as well as critical analysis of the field
- Define the context of the topic in terms of industry, demographics and other considerations
- Provide information about other approaches, options and issues to consider.
Excerpts of previously published materials will be considered only if the author obtains and provides the necessary permission in writing.
Articles should neither lobby for reader action on political, economic or social causes, nor should they attempt to sell products or services.
Readership
Readers consist of practitioners, consultants, academicians and others who are engaged in or otherwise interested in the design, implementation and management of employee sales compensation. This includes both WorldatWork Premier members and nonmembers.
Review Process
Each manuscript considered for publication is subject to review by the WorldatWork technical staff and volunteer reviewers with expertise in the topic area addressed in the article. Manuscript evaluations are based on the value of the topic, timeliness, soundness of content, readability and interest to readers. All accepted manuscripts are subject to staff editing for style, clarity, length and gender neutrality. Authors may have the opportunity to review the edited version of their article before publication.
Copyright Ownership
After an article is accepted for publication, authors are required to sign an author contract giving WorldatWork copyright ownership of the article. The agreement stipulates that the materials submitted are original and that the authors have obtained any necessary permission for WorldatWork to publish their materials.
Manuscript Specifications
Length
Typically, articles range from 600 to 900 words, sometimes with graphics.
Submission Format
Please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Manuscripts should be submitted by e-mail as a Word document, double-spaced with paragraph indentation in 12-point Times New Roman.
- Do not type headlines, subheads or other words in all caps to add emphasis.
- It is advisable to use bold-face type for headlines and subheads to differentiate them from the text.
- Include a one-line biography of the author(s) indicating present title(s), length of WorldatWork membership (if applicable), e-mail address and contact phone number.
Publication Opportunities
News and Analysis Articles
All news and analysis articles are considered for publication. These articles may analyze current trends, recent regulatory, judicial or legislative developments, or superior/innovative industry practices. The review process focuses on:
- Relevance to WorldatWork Members/Professionals. The topic is valuable to the audience.
- Technical Accuracy and Integrity. The content is accurate, timely and verifiable.
- Uniqueness. The article contains ideas not recently published in Sales Compensation Focus.
- Communication Style. The tone and style fall within the bounds of reasonable commentary (i.e., devoid of comments that are offensive in nature or attempt to lobby or sell to the audience).
Publication Schedule
Contact the editor for the current year’s planned publication schedule. Sales Compensation Focus is published bimonthly. Manuscripts should be submitted at least one month before desired publication. Sales Compensation
