The initial interactive session will kick-off with a panel discussion based on the ground-breaking Sloan Foundation Flexibility Retreat, which facilitated breakthrough thinking and contributed to a deeper understanding of successful workplace flexibility practices. Next, leading futurists and panelists (including Charles Grantham and James Ware, co-founders of the Work Design Collaborative and the Future of Work program) will provide their viewpoints and perspectives on the future of attraction, motivation and retention. Biographies
John M. Bremen, Global Practice Director, Sales Effectiveness & Compensation, Watson Wyatt Worldwide
In addition to his practice leader duties at Watson Wyatt, John Bremen serves as the Chair of the Compensation Advisory Board for WorldatWork. Having worked with the world's largest and most successful corporations, published numerous articles and research studies, and appeared in print and broadcast media in Europe, Asia and the Americas, Bremen is an acknowledged expert in issues related to global sales force pay and performance.
Bremen holds an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a B.A. from Northwestern with concentrations in Political Science and Economics.
David J. Cichelli, Senior Vice President, The Alexander Group Inc.
David Cichelli is a WorldatWork instructor and author of WorldatWork's one-day course in Sales Compensation Design. He is a frequent speaker at national and local association meeting on the effective use of incentive compensation. He is on the faculty of the Merage Foundation at the University of California, Irvine, and is author of Compensating the Sales Force (McGraw Hill). Cichelli is a contributing editor to Sales and Marketing Management magazine.
His education includes a B.S undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and a master's degree from Michigan State University.
Jerome A. Colletti, Managing Partner, Colletti-Fiss, LLC
Colletti-Fiss is a management-consulting firm headquartered in Scottsdale, AZ, that helps management make decisions about programs that increase sales results. Colletti's firm focuses on three areas of sales effectiveness: jobs design and organization structure, performance management programs, and sales compensation plans.
Colletti is the author of more than 70 publications including pieces in Harvard Business Review and The Wall Street Journal. He holds a B.A. from St. Mary's University and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin.
Heidi Daly Guy, Account Executive, Ceridian
Heidi has been with Ceridian for over fifteen years as an Account Executive. She has worked with clients in the telecommunications, hospitality, retail, consulting and other industries, as well as the government. In this role she has created unique and creative projects for clients to promote and support work/life programs for their employees. She has also helped to develop proposals and projects for development funding to support community projects and union members.
Prior to joining Ceridian, Heidi was a Work and Family Coordinator with a Fortune 100 company. In that role, she developed and implemented a near-site child care center for area businesses. Her experience also includes Human Resources administration, and contract administration. She has an MBA in Human Resources Management as well as a Masters in Special Education with ten years of teaching experience.
Mark Flavin, Principal, Towers Perrin
Mark Flavin is a Principal at Towers Perrin and is the Global Leader of the Sales Force Rewards Group. He works with clients seeking to significantly improve the performance of their sales organization by better aligning sales management programs with business strategy. His specific expertise is in the design and implementation of sales compensation programs.
Mark has worked with clients in a variety of industries including financial services, technology, manufacturing, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, transportation, medical products, and consumer products. Mark, based in Towers Perrin's Chicago office, has a M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University.
Stewart D. Friedman, Practice Professor, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania
Stewart D. Friedman, author of Total Leadership: Be a Better, Have a Richer Life, is the founding director of the Wharton School’s Leadership Program and of Wharton’s Work/Life Integration Project. He is a former head of Ford Motor’s Leadership Development Center.
Charles Grantham, Co-founder, Work Design Collaborative and the Future of Work program
Charlie has spent over twenty years studying and writing about the future of work. He is also the founder and chief scientist of the Institute for the Study of Distributed Work, based in Prescott, Arizona, where he manages an extensive applied research program focused on the emergence of the electronic workplace. He is recognized as an international expert on the design of information and organizational systems that support these new forms of work.
Charlie received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Maryland. He also holds degrees in Psychology and Urban Economics from the University of Maryland. He has published five books and over a dozen technical articles in fields ranging from computer science to psychiatry. His latest book is Consumer Evolution, released in late 2002. He is also the author of The Future of Work, published in 1999.
Steve Grossman, Principal, Mercer
Steve Grossman, a Principal in Mercer's Sales Effectiveness practice, specializes in the design, alignment, implementation and monitoring of key sales and sales management processes. For 25 years, Grossman has consulted on domestic and international sales force management issues as well as marketing, competitive analysis and organization effectiveness. His clients span many industries including medical products, distribution, communications, computers, info-tech, consumer products and financial and professional services. A frequent speaker on sales force management and compensation, Grossman is also a principal author of The Sales Compensation Handbook.
Teresa Hopke, Director, Talent Management, RSM McGladrey Inc.
In her role, Teresa Hopke develops strategy, programs and policies that help support employees in their personal and professional lives. She has been employed with RSM McGladrey for five years and has been in her current work-life role for three years. Prior to her work-life role with the firm, she was their Director of Compensation. Before joining RSM McGladrey, Hopke was most recently employed as a work-life consultant at Mercer Human Resources Consulting, assisting clients with the development of work-life strategy and researching employee and employer views on work-life issues.
Sharon Klun, Director, Work-Life Initiatives, Accenture LLP
Sharon Klun joined Accenture to design U.S. work-life strategies and develop cultural components to support program expansion. She is responsible for creating initiatives that support organizational development in areas of wellness, work-life, career flexibility and total rewards.
Appointed by the Governor of Minnesota to two state boards, a recipient of the Chamber of Commerce Quality of Life Award, and profiled in the PBS special "Running Out of Time," Klun received her degree from Concordia University and served 13 years in the U.S. Army's Judge Advocate General's (JAG) division. She is the proud mother of one son.
Marilyn Kraut, HR Director, Quality of Work-Life Programs, University of Pennsylvania
Marilyn Kraut is responsible for Human Resources Quality of Worklife Programs at the University of Pennsylvania and manages work and family, appreciation, recognition, and health promotion activities for 13,500 faculty and staff. Marilyn came to Penn in 1995 from The Partnership Group where she developed nationwide back-up child care programs. She entered the work-life field in 1983 opening a back up child care agency. Earlier, she was a compensation and organizational development professional for the federal government. Marilyn has a B.S. in Family Studies from the Pennsylvania State University and a Masters in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Kathie Lingle, Executive Director, Alliance for Work-Life Progress
As Executive Director of the Alliance for Work-Life Progress (AWLP), Lingle has helped numerous organizations and the people who work for them navigate work-life conflict through education. She is an internationally recognized and widely quoted expert and a sought-after keynote speaker, writer and adviser for national and international organizations.
She serves on the Conference Board's Work-Life Leadership Council, Executive Committee for Work-Life and Women's Initiatives of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Lingle earned a BA in Diplomacy and World Affairs at Occidental College in Los Angeles, and holds an MS in Child Development and Family Systems (now "Human Ecology") from Ohio State University.
Nina Madoo, Senior Director for Workplace Strategies, Marriott International
Nina Madoo provides strategic thinking and develops change management strategies that provide work-life support to Marriott International associates. She provides direction for Marriott's work-life programs such as the integrated work-life resource, referral and EAP program, childcare resources, eldercare, flexibility, etc., that meet the complex needs of the diverse workforce. In addition, Madoo focuses on women's leadership and diversity initiatives and external outreach to present Marriott International as one of the best in family friendly work practices.
Madoo serves on advisory boards of several work-life organizations including Corporate Voices for Working Families, Conference Board's Work Life Leadership Council, and Boston College's Center on Aging and Work.
Kathryn Oliver Kadilak, President, Strategic Work/Life Solutions, LLC
At Strategic Work/Life Solutions, LLC (SWS), Kadilak helps organizations and individuals to create solutions at work, at home and in life through flexibility. She is president of the Metropolitan Washington Work/Life Coalition. Previously, she managed the U.S. Department of Justice's Worklife Program and spent nearly 30 years in federal service, including serving on the Employee Morale and Image Taskforce of the President's Committee on Management Improvement.
Kadilak has a B.A. in Psychology from Mount Saint Mary's College and a master's of Public Administration from The American University. She is an active member of the Alliance of Work-Life Progress' Innovative Excellence Award Committee and writes about work-life issues.
Debbie Phillips, Vice President, WFDConsulting
Debbie Phillips is Vice President at WFD with global expertise in all areas of dependent care and work/life support and is most recently engaged in strategic management of the American Business Collaboration's focus on critical talent through the "New Career Paradigm" study. She works with her clients on the development and implementation of global worklife strategy. Debbie is the Director of the American Business Collaboration and the grandparent of two, Jack - 5 years old and Eve - 3 years old.
Linda Roundtree, President, Roundtree Consulting LLC
Linda Roundtree is founder and president of Roundtree Consulting LLC, a firm that specializes in the design, implementation and communication of work-life initiatives. Previously, Linda was with American Airlines where she held various positions in operations management and HR, including manager of work-life strategies. She was also vice president account management with Ceridian, an HR services, EAP and work-life provider. Linda is a past president of the boards of Alliance for Work-Life Progress (AWLP) and Child Care Resources. She has a degree in Communicative Disorders, Audiology from California State University, Northridge.
James Ware, Co-founder, Work Design Collaborative and the Future of Work program
James Ware has over 30 years experience in research, executive education, consulting, and management, including five years on the faculty of the Harvard Business School. A recognized expert in fostering collaborative inquiry that produces both learning and action, he has led over a dozen sponsored research projects on topics such as electronic commerce channel strategies, web-enabling business processes, IT executive leadership and staff development, and building business performance scorecards. He was the lead author of The Search for Digital Excellence, (McGraw-Hill, 1998), an early compendium of ebusiness case studies demonstrating the impact of the Internet on business and society.
Jim holds Ph.D., M.A., and B.Sc. degrees from Cornell University and an MBA (With Distinction) from the Harvard Business School. He served on the board of trustees of Heald College from 1998 to 2007, the last two years as Chairman.
